La Toussuire, Le Corbier, Saint-Sorlin-d’Arves, Saint-Jean-d’Arves, Les Bottières and Saint-Colomban-des-Villards: six welcoming, human-scale ski resorts joined forces to create one of the largest ski areas in France, while preserving and promoting their local heritage, traditions and unique identities.
A major milestone was reached on 13 December 2013 with the inauguration of the Les Sybelles ski area, the largest in the Maurienne Valley. The six resorts are connected via the summit of Ouillon, at an altitude of 2,431 metres, offering 310 km of slopes and reaching a maximum altitude of 2,620 metres.
Since then, each Les Sybelles resort has developed a wide range of holiday rental accommodation. Some of these properties have never been renovated, while the expectations and needs of our guests have changed considerably.
With occupancy rates for some of these properties steadily declining, action is essential to secure the future of the Les Sybelles resorts. The challenges surrounding tourist accommodation occupancy, renovation, marketing and environmental commitment affect French ski resorts as a whole, and Les Sybelles is no exception.
That is why, in the interests of tourism professionals, residents and property owners alike, the municipalities, tourist offices, property owners’ centres and Les Sybelles ski lift companies offer you the opportunity to enhance your holiday property by applying for the “SYBELLES® QUALITY ACCOMMODATION” label.
The “SYBELLES® QUALITY ACCOMMODATION” label complements the official furnished tourist accommodation classification, and both procedures can be carried out at the same time.
The label promotes quality, visibility and environmental commitment among accommodation located in the six municipalities connected by the Les Sybelles ski area (currently available only in Le Corbier and La Toussuire). It highlights the efforts made by owners of furnished tourist accommodation intended for rental.
The aim is to strengthen the quality image of the resorts, increase tourist occupancy, reduce the number of underused tourist beds and make properties easier to market. The municipalities also aim to attract new visitors and encourage them to return.
The scheme is voluntary. Owners who rent out properties located in municipalities connected to the Les Sybelles ski area can request an assessment of their accommodation.
It is strongly recommended to request an assessment before carrying out any renovation work.
An audit is carried out by the local accommodation manager responsible for the “SYBELLES® QUALITY ACCOMMODATION” label, either at the direct request of the owner or through their representative (estate agency).
The audit is based on a set of specifications covering two aspects:
No particular style is imposed: contemporary and traditional styles are equally welcome.
The process is free of charge and confidential.
The benefits available depend on the number of nights the property is rented:
